Garth, I don't know what you did to this blog, but the same paragraphs are copied and pasted more than once. Had me wondering, "what the hell?"

I'm on the McEichel fan club.

Who cares?

Hope both Stafford and Stewart are shown the door sometime this season. Hopefully before the Christmas break.

They will get traded at the Trade deadline when they can get Max value . They will not be traded just for the sake of making a trade . Also the youth gets more time in Rochester this way.

The same story with a different twist for Stewart. he will be good in his contract year. His stats will be better as he scores a lot of goals against weak competition which the East is chalk full.

Stewart also has traditionally played his best games against Canadian teams. I suspect being closer to home will help him.

Hitchcock as far as I know is not the GM in St.Louis. He has not traded any players. Stewart was given ample opportunity in St. Louis to fulfill the promise he has shown. The problem has been five fold for Stewart in his career. A few seasons Arnott called him out on his lack of off ice preparation. He seems to have done better with that as he did in the shortened season by playing massive amounts in Europe, in a weaker league. But as the play offs started Stewart disappeared.

He used to be a good forechecker using his speed and his strength to make good hits. Then he hit a Detroit player a few years ago and was suspended. Since then he does regularly check. He will drop the gloves.

His production has always been streaky. When he is going good he is confident. When he goes cold his confidence disappears and his play suffers. Numerous times Hitch tried to help him out of it anyway he could. Stewart earned his fourth line ice time.

Finally Stewart does not play at both ends of the ice. He showed progress on this front over the years and probably due to his being out of shape(look at one of his fights early last season when his jersey comes up and you see a belly which is unlike an NHL player). He never displayed the same speed coming back as he did going into the offensive zone. That had a lot to do with his demotions. That and too often playing on the perimeter and not driving the puck to the net with his size is a joke.

A corsi rating of 47.5% last year mostly playing with players well on the other side of 50%. It gets worse as you compare players corsi with him on their line. Hitch even placed Stewart a number of times on a line with Backes and Steen to try and get him going to no avail.

I hope Stewart turns it around. He seems like a good guy but you cannot feel sorry for a guy with that kind off talent and chance peeing it away by not showing enough heart to do something like he did this off season.

Did the earth's magnetic lines shift and suddenly Marcus Foligno became a "road grater" as he is called in this blog. Have you not been watching the same passive player over the last season and a half as I have? He's got the tools and is still young but its time for him to start putting it all together toward becoming that solid, consistent 3rd line checker that he can be.

What performance enhancing drug is Stewart on that he thinks this team will challenge for a playoff spot? That's a good one. He won't be resigned to underperform for this team next year...no way.

Stewart is in a contract year yes but he will not produce more goals on a team like the Sabres IMO. With Nolan coaching the goals will be even more hard to come by then it was being on the 3rd/4th line of the St. Louis Blues.

What do you expect the players to say? They won't come out and say "Hey ya I know we won't make the playoffs but management is looking forward to Connor McDavid next year...."

Geesh some people...
